The Mechanic Welder is responsible for welding and fabricating metal components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and aerospace quality standards. The Mechanic Welder's key responsibilities are the following:
Interpret and follow technical documentation such as blueprints, schematics, test procedures and detailed drawings to determine specifications/materials required and to ensure accurate assembly and test execution.
Perform precision mechanical assembly and fit-up of aerospace components, including welded structures, enclosures, and mounting hardware, in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
Conduct functional testing and verification of assembled components, including mechanical integrity checks and router instruction alignment.
Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, stick, and oxy-acetylene welding, on different types of metals.
Set up and operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws or defects and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
Utilize precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify tolerances and ensure assemblies meet required specifications.
Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance as needed.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and to specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Document work performed and materials used for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
Work with Quality Control to keep routers current.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of welding symbols, blueprints, and schematics.
Ability to stand and perform welding and assembly activities for extended periods, up to 8 hours per workday.
Frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting or maneuvering of items up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Regular pushing and pulling of equipment, components, and materials throughout the workday.
Ability to safely assist in the movement of large components and equipment, including use of cranes with team members.
Ability to work in a variety of positions, including bending, kneeling, crouching, and overhead reaching.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for detailed welding and mechanical assembly work.
Ability to work in an industrial setting with exposure to noise, heat, and welding-related conditions.
Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Commitment to safety and following all safety guidelines.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
A welding certification from a recognized institution is preferred.
Proven experience as a welder in a similar role.
Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, stick, and oxy-acetylene welding.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certifications or training in specialized welding techniques.
Experience with CNC machinery and metal fabrication.
Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).

Shift/Hours: Monday – Friday 6:30AM-2:30PM

Hiring Rate Range:
$38 - $40 per hour
The base rate is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle point of the hiring range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
